The Project

Phase 1

The project at Newcastle Airport has been split into two phases. Phase one was to provide adequate air side charging infrastructure and set up all air side EVs onto our management platform. We installed x4 EV charge points across the air side site, for the ground maintenance team, air side security, Samson Aviation (Private Jet Centre), and the fuel farm, near the car park. We also installed x1 Compleo rapid DC charge point at the on-site fire station.

All of the EV charge points we installed, as well as x3 previously installed by another installer, are connected to our management platform and use iEquos software. This offers full connectivity and management of the entire system, allowing bespoke user access and providing live reporting on energy use.

Originally, all EV charge points air side were meant for sole use by Newcastle Airport. However, airline Tui requested access and therefore we set them up as a user via iEquos, so that Newcastle Airport can charge the airline for the use of the charger.

Phase 2

The second phase of the project is to install EV charging infrastructure for airport staff, providing a workplace charging scheme that can also allow the airport to drive recurring revenue.
